Music Revival presents a classical piano recital by Christopher Duigan at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone, Pietermaritzburg and at the Tatham Art Gallery, opposite City Hall.
Classical Masterpieces includes WA Mozart’s popular Piano Sonata in A major ‘Alla turca’, music by Johannes Brahms, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata op 31 ‘The Tempest’. This sonata was supposedly inspired by Shakespeare’s play of the same name, according to Beethoven’s biographer and secretary Anton Schindler. It is also known as ‘Der Sturm’ or ‘The Storm’. It is widely acknowledged as one of Beethoven’s great masterpieces.
There will be two performance in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, July 31 at 7.30 pm at Duigans’ home studio at 35 Montgomery Drive. Tickets are R100 and a light meal is available at an additional R50.
