Classical Masterpieces

Music Revival presents a classical piano recital by Christopher Duigan at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone, Pietermaritzburg and at the Tatham Art Gallery, opposite City Hall.
Classical Masterpieces  includes WA Mozart’s popular Piano Sonata in A major ‘Alla turca’, music by Johannes Brahms, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s  Piano Sonata op 31 ‘The Tempest’. This sonata was supposedly inspired by Shakespeare’s  play of the same name, according to  Beethoven’s  biographer and secretary Anton Schindler. It is also known as ‘Der Sturm’ or ‘The Storm’.   It is widely acknowledged as one of Beethoven’s great masterpieces.

There will be two performance in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, July  31 at 7.30 pm at Duigans’ home studio at 35 Montgomery Drive. Tickets  are R100 and a light meal is available at an additional R50. Booking is essential  – call Music Revival at 033 342 3051, SMS 083 417 4473 or email booking@musicrevival.co.za. Please include you contact numbers in all bookings.

There is secure parking. Refreshments are included for those attending the concert only, from 7 pm. Those booking for the meal are reminded  to bring their own wine. Book a table for four or more or join one of the ‘house’ tables from 6.30 pm.

The Classical Masterpieces concert is repeated  on Sunday, August 2 starting at 11 am at the Tatham Art Gallery.  Tickets are R80.
