Joan Armatrading has added additional dates to her South African tour that will take place next month. Concerts will be held in Cape Town, East London, Durban and Johannesburg in July.

This isn’t the last time that Joan will be performing but it is her last ever world tour. The public’s response to her bringing the tour to South Africa has been phenomenal, hence additional shows being added to her trip to a country that has always been close to Joan’s heart. Her tour has seen sold out shows in the United Kingdom, United States as well as all across Europe.

Joan says: “I will never retire but this will be the last major tour that I will undertake. For the first time these concerts will be me solo on stage playing the guitar, piano and singing. I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one to one experience. I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience.”

Opening for her on this tour is South African platinum selling artist, Jesse Clegg whose 2008 debut album, When I Wake Up,  and his 2011 follow up, Life On Mars, have made the 25-year-old a success in his home country. He has released four top 10 singles and toured extensively both locally and internationally, playing the biggest festivals in the world.

This unique series of solo shows will feature Joanʼs classic hit Me, Myself I as well as a mix of other favourites such as Love and Affection, Willow and Drop The Pilot plus some of Joanʼs more recent compositions.  Fans new and old will enjoy a musical voyage spanning Joanʼs entire career and the many genres she has mastered including pop, blues, folk, reggae and jazz.
