‘The Ugly Duckling’ – a perfect holiday treat for the whole family

THE KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Youth Ballet’s production of The Ugly Duckling will enchant dance and theatre-lovers of all ages, making it an unmissable treat for the school holidays, writes ESTELLE SINKINS.

Running at the Hilton College Theatre from July 14 to 15, the show features 75 dancers of all ages from Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands and four dancers from the Cape Town City Ballet – former Maritzburg dancers, Stephen Underwood and Sascha Nott, Hannah Ward from Durban and Ivan Boonzaier. Cape Town City Ballet presents Noel Coward’s The Vortex

Marc Goldberg’s dance adaptation of Noel Coward’s hugely controversial play, The Vortex, will be presented by Cape Town City Ballet at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town in July. It’s not to be missed!

The ballet explores themes of drug addiction in 1920’s high society, adultery, ageing and dysfunctional family dynamics over the course of a weekend in the country home of David and Florence Lancaster. Continue reading
