Just when you thought the cultural calendar in Joburg was calming down, November brings the 5th Women’s International Theatre Festival. Running from November 4, the event offers a fresh feast of theatre and performance, with 13 plays, two dance pieces, daily film screenings and an evening of music – all work that celebrates women in theatre.

The Hexagon Theatre on the Pietermaritzburg campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal is hosting its 10th annual Minifest! on February 26 and 27. Whether you love comedy or drama, this mini festival will offer theatre pieces to suit all tastes. The shows on offer include brand new theatre creations and award winners from other festivals. THERE will be auditions for the new play, Zus en Matilde, written by Theo Fransz and directed by Philisiwe Twijnstra, in Durban this week.
Auditions will take place on September 12 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Requirements are a monologue and a children’s game. Book a slot by emailing your name and time you would like to audition to email@example.com
The director is looking for two female actors, who can play teenagers. Actors must be available for rehearsals in September for a performance in October 2015 in Johannesburg. The performance fee, accommodation, SnT and transport is taken care off.
