Durban Symphonic Choir to perform at St Joseph’s Mariannhill

The Durban Symphonic Choir turns 50 this year and to celebrate, they are joining forces with the KwaZulu=Natal Youth Choir and the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra for a first-time performance of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem on Sunday, August 14 at 2.30 pm at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Mariannhill.

This exciting and beautiful choral work, which blends words from the Latin requiems with Japanese Death poems, will be sung by 140 singers, with Naum Rousine conducting and Vanessa Tait-Jones as the soprano.

The first half of the concert will include a variety of sacred music ranging from two items from The Messiah to the very beautiful Panis Angelicus sung by the youth choir.

Tickets are R120 each, children under 12 free. Safe parking is available.

Durban Symphonic Choir performs at Mariannhill Monastery

The Durban Symphonic Choir under Dr Ros Conrad will present its main event of the year, John Rutter’s stirring Requiem and other sacred music, at 2.30p m on Sunday August 16 at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Mariannhill Monastery. The choir will be accompanied by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Naum Rousine. Tickets at R100 each will be available at the door; children under 12 enter free.
