Marc Goldberg’s dance adaptation of Noel Coward’s hugely controversial play, The Vortex, will be presented by Cape Town City Ballet at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town in July. It’s not to be missed!

The ballet explores themes of drug addiction in 1920’s high society, adultery, ageing and dysfunctional family dynamics over the course of a weekend in the country home of David and Florence Lancaster. Continue reading

Tribute to Christopher Kindo at Artscape

Christopher Kindo

Christopher Kindo, South African award-winning dancer and choreographer, and one of the co-founders of the Jazzart Dance Academy in Cape Town, passed away 20 April 2015.

In recognition of his vast contribution to the cultural reservoir of Cape Town’s creative sector the, Applauz Arts Initiative, an NGO and recognised contributor to the cultural activities of the City of Cape Town and South Africa, the Kindo Family and several of Christopher’s friends have come together to celebrate the life of this creative spirit, friend, son, uncle, brother, youth developer, mentor, choreographer and dancer.

Cape Dance Company presents A Thousand Shepherds at Artscape

The contemporary classical Cape Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Debbie Turner, celebrates its 21st anniversary this year by presenting five performances at the Artscape Theatre from March 18 to 20.

The season, sponsored principally by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NDTLF) features the African première of Spanish/British choreographer, José Agudo’s acclaimed work, A Thousand Shepherds. Continue reading
