Dora The Explorer set to entertain the little ones

Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) has teamed up with Life Like Touring and Blu Blood to bring pre-school heroine and intrepid adventuress Dora the Explorer and her friends to South Africa this winter.

Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure, the ultimate, fantastic family-friendly theatrical experience runs at the ICC in Durban from June 30 to July 3, before moving on to Emperors Palace, Johannesburg (July 7 to 10), and finally dropping anchor at the Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino in Cape Town (July 14 to 17). The Playhouse Company to audition for the touring schools production of Sugar Daddies

The Playhouse Company is holding auditions for the production Sugar Daddies, which will be presented on the Company’s mobile stage at high schools throughout KwaZulu-Natal from July 18 to August 12. “To BURN with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves”, so says Leonardo , a former suitor, to a bride-to-be on her wedding day.

In this contemporary reimagining of the classical play, Blood Wedding, the unleashed torrent of passion and vendetta culminates in a dance of death combining music, movement, poetic storytelling, surrealism and brutal realism.

Under the direction of Tamantha Hammerschlag, the cast of postgraduate and undergraduate students of the Drama and Performance Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus, is joined by professionals Ntokozo Madlala, Hazel Barnes, Marcus Henning, TQ Zondi and Mpilo Nzimande.

Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding will be staged at the Hexagon Theatre at the UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus at 7 pm from June 7 to 11. Designs are by Peter Mitchell, music by Bernard Kisbey-Green and choreography by Paul Datlen and Pumelela Nqelenga
