The Taming of the Shrew will be screened at 11 am on March 6 as part of the Fugard Bioscope World Arts Season.
French choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot has adapted Shakespeare’s comedy specifically to the Bolshoi Ballet dancers, and achieves a magnetic two hours of breathtaking, nonstop dance unlike any other.
The story revolves around Bianca. Many suitors dream of marrying the lovely and docile lady, including Lucentio. However her father will not let anyone marry her before her elder sister, the ill-tempered shrew Katherina, is herself married.
Tickets for the screening at the Fugard Theatre are R100. The show is two hours and 10 minutes long.
On Sunday, February 28, the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town will be screening the Bolshoi Ballet’s Spartacus as part of the Fugard Bioscope World Arts Season. The screening takes place at 11 am. Continue reading
