CELEBRATED concert pianist, Christopher Duigan, will be returning to Franschhoek in May to delight classical music fans with a series of concerts at the NG Church, Franschhoek and Cafe Bon Bon.

He will joined by guitarist, James Grace, Tango Ensemble players Stanislav Angelov (accordion) and Petrus de Beer (violin) and the exciting new Juliet Quartet for the concerts which form part of the Franschhoek Literary Festival. Continue reading

Catch ‘I See You’ at the Fugard in Cape Town

HOT off its premiere at the Royal Court in London and recent Market Theatre run, South African Mongiwekhaya’s latest play, I See You opens on Friday, May 6 at the Fugard Studio Theatre and runs until May 28.

Presented by Eric Abraham and The Fugard Theatre, this Royal Court (London) and Market Theatre (Johannesburg) production is based on a true story and movingly addresses the questions of a new generation of South Africans encountering their country’s traumatised past. Continue reading

Walkabout of Jannie Van Heerden’s exhibition at artSPACE durban

JANNIE van Heerden will be giving a walkabout of his exhibition, “Helen Martins and the Owl House – a personal view” at artSPACE durban, 3 Miller Road, Durban on Saturday, May 7 at 11 am. All are welcome and it is free!

Van Heerden says: “The reason that I chose the Owl House is because I met Helen Martins in Nieu-Bethesda and was very impressed by her liveliness and total dedication to the creation of her wonder world.”

The exhibition runs until Thursday, May 19. The gallery is open from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Inquiries: 031 312 0793.

Drawing on the conference theme #creativeintersections, this practical workshop, titled Movement Maker, will explore the connections between traditional and academic disciplines of fine art and dancing and redefine these boundaries by creating new disciplines and movements. Continue reading
