mmc rubySinger-songwriter, Ruby Gill, 20 (pictured), will be performing in her hometown tonight (November 17) when she takes to the stage at the Maritzburg Musicians Club (MMC) at La Casa in Quarry Road, Pietermaritzburg.

Now living in Johannesburg, Ruby is fast carving out her place in the industry. The young singer is a skilful piano and guitar player and possesses one of the most beautiful voices in the country. Her music is gut-wrenchingly honest, powerful and fresh.

After her first single Three Sixty Five, which trended on YouTube within hours of its 2013 release, Ruby landed high-profile publishing work with Sony, most notably for Johnny Apple’s award-winning debut album, and worked as a session musician for the legendary likes of Shawn Phillips, Zebra and Giraffe and more.

After playing twice to rave reviews at Oppikoppi 2015, Gill she is now in studio working on new material with Grammy-winning producer Darryl Torr, and performing across the country.

Ruby was also recently named as one of the top three in Converse Rubber Track’s notorious Get Out of the Garage Competition 2015.

She will be joined by Durban-based musician Matt Vend at the Maritzburg Musician’s Club on November 17 at 7 pm. Tickets cost R40.
