HILTON resident, Marion Lowe, will be showcasing her work at an exhibition at the Union Castle room at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga on November 8 and 9.
Lowe was born in Vereeniging, and from an early age was been intrigued by the use of colour, light and composition of the “Old Masters”.

After matriculating, she entered the travel industry; and during her travels around the world, always had a sketch book and watercolours close at hand. Her favourite pastime was to visit galleries and museums studying paintings by famous artists.

She began to concentrate on her painting career in the late eighties and today her work can be found worldwide.

Using mainly in oils, Lowe concentrates on landscapes, flowers and figures, with a definite leaning towards impressionism. Her landscapes are characterised by a warm glow of light in the fields while her figures use light, dark and texture to produce works which are sophisticated, striking and charming.
