Las Vegas has an undeniable magnetic attraction and nobody is exempt. Even the world’s most iconic and influential performers go there to play, party and perform … and The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway in Umhlanga celebrates these music legends in one action-packed show, Viva Las Vegas!, which is set to run through the festive season, until January 10, 2016.
A spectacular metropolis in the Nevada desert, Las Vegas is the unlikely entertainment capital of the world. It has evolved to become an unspoken rite of passage for the world’s most acclaimed performers to make the pilgrim there, like Elvis who had 837 consecutive sell-out from 1969 four years after starring in the iconic film Viva Las Vegas.
The Barnyard show features divas like Celine Dion, Cher, Britney Spears, Dianna Ross and Jennifer Lopez; sex symbols such as Tom Jones and Rod Stewart; rockers such as ZZ Top and Santana; icons like Elvis Presley, Sir Elton John and Michael Jackson; and crooners such as Dean Martin, Michael Bublé and ol’ blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra . There are also some surprise tributes to Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga and The Carpenters.
Songs included in this party production include Get The Party Started, I’m Coming Out, Sex Bomb, Let’s Get Loud, The Lady Is A Tramp, Power Of Love, Beat It, A Little Less Conversation and Uptown Funk .
The cast is made up of Gavin Hayze, Ofentse Mokhuane, Stephanie Braxton and Chrystal Worship on vocals, Dene Potgieter on guitar, Calli Thomson on keyboards, Nico Badenhorst on bass guitar and Paul Cassells on drums. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Vegas show without dancers, and taking these credits are Duanne Joaquim and Jemma Shankland.
To accommodate festive season revelry, additional lunch time shows (starting at 1.30 pm) have been added on the following dates – Friday, 13 November, Friday, 27 November, Thursday, 3 December, Friday, 4 December, Thursday, 10 December, Friday, 11 December, Monday, 14 December and Tuesday, 15 December.
