Durban audiences are in for a treat as Simmi brings his first one-man show to the The Loft \Theatre at The Playhouse Company from October 27 to November.
Stay At Home Son is a show is about a young Muslim boy who stays with his parents and the various experiences and observations he has with them and other people growing up.
Simmi grew up in a Muslim part of Durban and moved up to Johannesburg in 2011 with a dream of being a stand-up comedian. He performed in bars and clubs.
The tables turned in Simmi’s favour and his journey has seen him touring extensively throughout the country and recently had a very successful sold out one-man show at the Joburg Theatre.
He is often seen opening for Riaad Moosa and has also shared the stage with the likes of John Vlismas, Trevor Noah, Eugene Khoza, Chester Missing & Conrad Koch, Mark Banks, Marc Lottering, Trevor Gumbi, Loyiso Gola, Kagiso Lediga and many more.
He has also appeared on the Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and Comedy Central’s Live at Parker’s. He has also dabbled in the art of radio before taking on comedy full time. He was a producer on 947’s Breakfast Express and part of the Big Breakfast team on East Coast Radio.
