Adams’ Shop from 1865 until about 1900.

AS part of the celebrations to mark Adams’ 150 years, the book store has published a revised edition of Dear Old Durban, the book which Barbara Maud Stone developed from the diaries of Yvonne Miller.
In it she describes the sights, scents and sounds of Durban in the early years of the 20th century.  The revised edition is illustrated with numerous colour reproductions of postcards of the period from Miller’s collection, which will give readers a new perspective of the remnants of this time to be seen around the city.

The launch will be held at Adams’ Musgrave shop on Thursday, from 5.30 pm. Peter Adams will tell some stories and show pictures of Adams Bookshop, the family, and the people who have worked there, and Stone will show slides of early Durban.
