Guitarist Kyle Baker has been playing in bands in and around the Midlands for a few years, including Gloucester Blues Project, Tuff Gong, Fan the Fire, and Aymira. His solo performances are an acoustic folky vibe, inspired by Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Trevor Hall etc… Kyle’s aim is too express emotion through his music, as authentically as possible…
He says: “If it makes you feel blue when you listen to it then it’s not the blues. The blues is supposed to make you feel better. It’s about getting the bad things out of your system in a way that puts a big smile on your face.”
Inspired by the blues movement of the previous century, The Luke Wyngaard Trio puts a more modern and often louder spin on the art of the blues.
Headed up by fiery red-headed guitarist and singer/songwriter Luke Wyngaard and backed by bassist Skippy Kubheka and Drummer Chris Melling, the trio aims to put a swing in your step and a dance in your soul.
Formed in 2014, each member of The Luke Wyngaard Trio are all accomplished musicians in their own right and possess a deep respect and appreciation for a wide array of musical genres, each bringing his own influences to the blues table.
Chris Melling known for his inventive percussion work with howick-based Latino ethnic group Pan Latino and Skippy Kubheka of Super Llama and other midlands-based bands provide a strong rock solid rhythm section while Luke Wyngaard, best known in KZN for his appearances with The Hairy Legged Lentil Eaters and others, combines solid guitar wizardry with emotive vocals to complete the musical picture; a formidable combination that is not to be missed.
