Juan Burgers’ ‘Ubuntu – The Opera’ to premiere in November
Music-lovers can look forward to the world premiere of a major new South African composition, to be unveiled on the Playhouse Opera stage in November. Entitled Ubuntu – The Opera, the work is the magnum opus of Durban-based musician and composer, Juan Burgers, who for many years has played a leading role in this country’s classical music environment.

Shongweni potter, Andrew Walford, is hosting an open day at his home and studio on Sunday, August 23 between10 am and 5 pm. Relax in country setting overlooking Shongweni Dam and view hundreds of flame fired pots. Visitors will also be able to watch Andrew and local potters fire his oil kiln to a white heat. Sing with One Voice is a choral music and dance concert featuring seven Catholic schools from the greater Durban area. This fund-raiser for the Denis Hurley Centre is taking place at Emmanuel Cathedral on Thursday, August 20 at 6.30 pm. Kahn Morbee solo in Caversham
KAHN Morbee, frontman for South African rock/pop band, The Parlotones, is heading to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands next week (August 20 and 21) to perform songs from his solo EP, Salt.
