Max-Hoba set to rock the National Arts Festival

Amongst those who will be performing at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown is the much travelled Johannesburg-based Max-Hoba. He has just returned from a three-week European Tour where he performed at Primavera Pro in Spain and at Midem in France.

Billed as the leading international business event for the music ecosystem, Midem has been held since 1967 and each year attracts several thousand musicians, producers, agents, managers, lawyers, executives, entrepreneurs and journalists from around the globe. This year was no exception.

Max-Hoba performed on the South African stage organised by the Independent Music Exporters South Africa (IMEXSA). His performance was a marvel to watch and even received rave reviews from leading music stakeholders. Mr Prezedent of Voice-Of-Africa-Radio described him as having “smoky soulful vocals” and that he couldn’t wait to get back to London to play his CD.

Kennedy Mensah, CEO of Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd summed up the performance by saying: “I had the pleasure of meeting young gentleman in Cannes this week – if you like smoky soulful vocals a la Sam Cooke delivered in a South African package – I suggest you get to know him too.”

Max-Hoba is South African Music Awards and WAWELA Awards nominee and a seasoned performer who has shared the stage with the likes of Don Laka, Ringo Madlingozi,The Wailers, Paul Hanmer, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbulu, Simphiwe Dana, Jonas Gwangwa and many others.
