Multi-platinum South African electro-hop duo, Locnville, will release their third studio album, and their first for Warner Music, Taste The Weekend, on June 17.

Inspired by the sounds of future dancehall and indeed the deep house scene of South Africa, Locnville’s Andrew and Brian Chaplin, alongside Hendrik Joerges and Sketchy Bongo, and proven international hit-makers Esjay Jones (Selena Gomez) and Trey Vittetoe (Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez) and Narinder Singh (Timbaland), have produced an honest, bold coming of age statement,

The new release is a cinematic, edgy and mostly upbeat affair with hook-filled new material which will drag fans, new and old, on the next leg of their journey which started in 2009 with Sun In My Pocket.

Of Taste The Weekend Andrew says: “This record is the perfect amalgamation of all the sounds that you’ve come to expect from us, with of course a bit of experimentation in there too. We focused on making a uniquely African sound with an international flavor, which I think really comes across in this. It’s been almost a year in the making between South Africa and the States, and I am very proud to put our name to this.”

The lead track on the album, Grapevine, is a slice of rolling electro-hop that glitches and twists, underneath their signature matter-of-fact rhyming.  This is quickly followed by Better, the twins musical nod to the progressive hip-hop of Rae Sremmurd and Chance The Rapper, which gives us a glimpse of the brothers’ growth beyond the suburbs of their youth.

The second single Cold Shoulder, co-produced with SA’s Sketchy Bongo, bounces it’s way into your head and goes round and round for days, as a great pop single should.

The title track, which underneath guest vocliast Roxy’s sultry refrain, hides a dark edge envoking the feelings of a Sunday morning come to soon; but the sun comes out for Just Like Me, which bubbles and scrapes before revealing itself as the self-effacing cousin of Cold Shoulder. There’s no time for sleep or chilling, as we go back to the club with All For You, Santa Monica Drive and 25.  The phased vocals and electro-dub of Golden Trinkets closes the loop. Hit repeat.
